Who else needs to get more time back?
My daughter has a hairstyle called Sister Locs that requires monthly re-ties. For two years I drove her 30 minutes to the salon, waited for 2 hours during the monthly hair appointment, and drove 30 minutes back home. I am all for making sacrifices for my child, but I was spending 3 hours on a busy Saturday just sitting waiting around for my child. During the early days of the pandemic lockdown I had to learn to do the re-ties myself. I am nowhere near as fast of expert as our stylist Ms. Sherice so I was thrilled when Ms. Sherice announced that she was returning to styling hair. She messaged to say that she was giving up her rented booth and making house calls to clients. This was a GAME CHANGER for us. Now I didn’t have to go anywhere and I was given the greatest gift of all: time. I had time back in my home to do laundry, play with my younger children, cook, do yard work, read, or just sit in silence while my daughter was occupied (isn’t that what all parents really want?).
I had been toying with the idea of leaving public school teaching, but I wasn’t sure exactly which direction I wanted to go next. I knew I wanted to continue working with students and music, but I needed a change of pace. I have an aging parent who at times needs an increased level of care and 3 young children who need their mother more present in their lives. I wanted to find a way to share my teaching gifts, but afford myself a more flexible schedule. The idea really hit me the first weekend that Ms. Sherice came to my house to style Zoey’s hair and the idea for Virtual Orchestra School was born.
Let Virtual Orchestra School give you your time back. You don’t have to drive to a studio for your child to receive high quality musical instruction. You too can have time in your own home back while your student builds confidence and skills on an instrument.
