In the Spring of 2020, under Mrs. Saavedra’s direction, the Memorial Middle School Orchestra was honored with the SupportMusic Merit Award from The NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education.

Megan Saavedra credits her love for orchestra and success in music to the love, support, and sacrifice from her parents. Their tireless support and encouragement were fundamental to the development of her self confidence and work ethic that propelled her toward musical success. It is Mrs. Saavedra’s dream to plant the same seeds of interest and enthusiasm for music education in her own children and students.

Mrs. Saavedra lives in Houston, Texas with her husband, Ruben, and their three children Zoey, Jeremy, and Amelia. In her spare time she enjoys being outside with her family, riding bikes, reading, geocaching, and maintaining her Little Free Library.
